Responsibilities

Technica has an exciting opportunity to join our team in providing Information Technology Services to the FBI’s Information Management Division (IMD). This program is responsible for managing the development and maintenance of the Information Technology (IT) Systems supporting the Enterprise Vetting Center (EVC) within IMD.  We are looking for a Systems Engineer Mid.  Supervise, coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
  • Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
  • Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
  • Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Exhibiting proficiency with virtualization technologies and network administration.  
  • Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP. Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Responsible for design, deployment, evaluating, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base storage & backup system, but for all features, components, and application dependencies.
  • Ensures systems are current with approved patches and assists with certification and system accreditation tasks, composes SOPs, and Quick Reference guides for users.  
 
This position is located at the FBI facility in Winchester, VA. For select positions, the FBI may locate the position in Washington, D.C., however that will be determined by the customer. The government has established policies for on-site vs remote work which varies across divisions and contracts. Staff are obligated to adhere to these and other FBI policies and react accordingly as policies change over time. Where allowed, hybrid work must be coordinated with the team lead and/or government POC, ensuring there is zero interruption with the delivery of our services.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance w/SCI and CI Poly or ability to obtain CI Poly. 
  • Bachelor's and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Proven experience supervising, coordinating and/or performing additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices. Experience in the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
  • Experience troubleshooting at the physical level of the network, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
  • Experience with systems management and integration functions.
  • Proficient with virtualization technologies and network administration.
  • Prior experience in technical consultation, training and support to IT staff.
  • Experience writing SOPs and Quick Reference guides for users.
