Responsibilities

Technica Corporation is seeking to fill a Network Engineer position to support our FBI  team in Washington, DC.  Technica Corporation has a great career opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to deliver network architecture support to develop the conceptual and detailed system designs for network technology enhancements and capability enablement initiatives. The candidate will support requirements analysis, solution development that includes preliminary and detailed designs, initial system integration, system testing and deployment engineering for a high priority engineering initiative. The staff member may also be responsible for deploying and integrating hardware for developing and testing proposed solutions, establishing and validating designs, completing site surveys to validate the design before development, supporting deployments as needed, and developing documentation related to the design to meet standard engineering life cycle management requirements.

 

  • Use reporting sources such as Riverbed, HP NS, and other associated methodologies to assess network performance, capacity, and potential connectivity issues at circuit, node and interface level.
  • Analyze current telecommunications network architecture and make recommendations on how to improve it.
  • Prototype network solutions and cost models to examine cost benefit analysis of adopting alternate vendors, technologies, equipment, and management processes.
  • Correlate disparate data sources from external and internal sources to show a more complete picture of network behavior, and capacity, at the node (site), organizational unit (field office), or network (BLACKNet, DCSN, VoiceNet, etc.) level.
  • Understand and implement routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and ISIS.
  • Maintain applications and databases that support telecom and network business processes.
  • Ensure call quality across the network is configured correctly; make changes as necessary to ensure the best possible call quality.
  • Create network diagrams that show the physical and logical layout of the network using Microsoft Visio or equivalent applications.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco, Juniper routers, switches, and various other network and telecommunication components at remote customer sites
  • Conduct detailed site surveys
  • Gathering customer requirements
  • Perform testing and activation of new network circuits
  • Install, configure,  and troubleshoot TACLANES
  • Effectively communications with clients, keeping them informed of all aspects of the installation throughout the deployment process
  • Create and maintain Visio network diagrams
  • Effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during deployments
  • Provide recommendations to enhance and improve the network and performance
  • Provide system wide engineering support for network conflicts, troubleshooting, and resolution

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelors degree in IT, engineering or related field and/or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in networking and/or 5. 
  • Proven technical leadership and in-depth analysis in the following areas:
    • Network Architecture
    • Network interoperability, network interfaces and network protocols.
    • Transport technology
    • Network testing
  • Experience prototyping and developing of network solutions
  • Able to work independently on specific tasks associated with one or more knowledge areas defined above. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired

  • CCNA Certification
  • MS/MA or equivalent experience or subject matter expertise in the service being provided.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience working in communications backbone.
